Final note on the PowerBook issue:

I think the new technologies (like PPC and USB) are ironically always adopted first by the new user, not the power user.

The power user always has too much invested in the old architecture to shift. Why do you think so many power users are so Windows bound?

Myself, I think it's part of the game. My PowerBook G3/300 seems to depend on very little. Once I have a USB card and Mac OS 8.6, I can't imagine the scenario where I won't be able to plug into just about anything anywhere.

That's why I believe the current PowerBooks are a steal. They are the way to get the old technology and the new technology.

Don't expect to get a new PowerBook and still have connectivity to your old stuff. I believe you can still swing SCSI through a PC card, and you can always use the iPrint SL(?) to connect serial devices to Ethernet.

Buy a PowerBook while they are cheap. Spend an extra $100 on DAVE, and you are set to go!
