Looks like good moves to me. I lost as well, and quit at 8 when I heard the consolidation was behind plan. Went to the meeting and bought twice in the mid fives. Will get some more in the mid 4's and if it goes down some more in the 3's.

This is not a low beta stock!

I would have pushed on the consolidation of numbers heavier. They wanted critical mass as soon as possible. Who is right?

There is ample reasoning for both courses of action. The advantage of what they did, however is they HAVE THE CRITIC MASS, and if someone wants in they have to deal with them.

Let Budd do his thing. He came from nothing and can squeeze an eagle.
JT did his thing and he is no longer there. Time to ride another horsee.

"...and then sell Oct 7.5s for 7/8 which would bring my cost back to 8 7/16."

if you do that, you lock in a loss since any appreciation over 7.5 between now and october has been sold.

in addition you're risk on the downside has only been reduced by the amount of the premium.

better to buy the put or just sit with the stock if you believe in this company. then you still have unlimited upside except for the cost of a put if you want downside protection.

regards

Speaking solely for myself ... your re-direction or re-statement is gratefully accepted <grin>.

Action right now depends, IMHO, upon one's personal estimate of just how low the stock is likely to go in the next month or two.

We each have had our hands slapped by taxman for our optioning activities, because we neglected the downside. I now have my nose stuck down in the Options book ... never did claim to be an options expert anyway.

Actually I reckon that I'll probably watch ABTX through the "filter" described in

freeyellow.com

and consider acting accordingly, probably using Calls in lieu of physical stock for a while.

I really like getting all that free stock.

Happy Due Diligence.
