A: re margin in retirement account: the next best thing is a leveraged CEF. Many of the stock closed-end funds offer preferred stock that is used as leverage for the common...they also buy options.
Check out AMO: they go long-short and hold options.
Zero-coupon bonds inside a retirement account is a form of leverage for bonds. If interest rates soar, buy zero-coupons or BTTRX.
