Gary B; E&P's Nat Gas leverage....

EVER & PETD are 2 small cap pure plays; BR & NBL the large cap leaders - all have above avg; resv life... one of the criticisms of late of EGAS has been the quality of their assets and resv. life - sorry EGAS fans..

RRC & FEN are 2 high return/high risk plays - of those RRC has very, long life Resv's - FEN very short... RRC is a real sleeper here - was highlighted by Aydin of McDonald & Co in a Barons Story a while back along with MARY COG MLRC . CWEI has high upside through the drillbit, UPR is a great gas play - but high debt load - lots of good choices.

I like EVER PETD MLRC PZE and RRC for speculation - the big caps just don't have the upside as these smaller players - so BR/NBL don't personally attract me personally - allthough they are less volatile... I like APA the best as a balanced Gas/Crude producer for upside potential in a larger cap E&P. PZE is a bigtime sleeper as well - I would be a buyer here of PZE !

Why E&P's vs. the Drillers ? I think that the Nat Gas plays will, or at least can separate themselves from the rest of the Oilpatch if Nat Gas prices separate from crude price trends - which the Salomon forecast predicts is not to far away... in essence - a HEDGE for reason #1, Diversification #2 and that they are way oversold - whitewashed to the same degree of the heavier Crude producers - so if I can buy the Nat Gas pure plays at the same discount of the more Crude oriented Producers - while price fundamentals for Gas are clearly more Bullish - gotta buy !
