Sarmad, After reading this I decided to look for myself at a few of the books I just bought and where they were cheaper. I discovered something a little more interesting however.

The most expensive book I bought recently is "The Endurance" about an arctic voyage, retails for $30. or thereabouts. I heard about this book listening to NPR driving one day. (I find out about a lot of books that way).

When I bought the book at Amazon, I typed in "endurance" and the 3 titles dealing with this event came right up, and the peripheral matches were below. This is what should happen, because this topic is hot right now, people hear about these books somewhere but they need to seller to point the way at little.

But try typing in "endurance" to www.borders.com. The book I want (which is on the bestseller list btw) currently displays as #21, behind "Bicycling Magazine training for fitness and endurance" and "The poetry of endurance". I would never have found this title at Borders because I didn't know the author or what the book looked like.

Shopping for books at borders.com reminds me of the experience of hearing a song on the radio where you only remember the chorus and trying to find the CD at Tower.
