Art and Thread,

I was intrigued by the brief mention of a company called Calluna Technology (http://www.callunacard.com) in a magazine called "LAPTOP: Buyers Guide and Handbook" (http://www.bedfordmags.com). They produce a 699 dollar ATA hard drive that fits into a Type III PCMCIA slot. It has a capacity of 1040 MB and "is as thin and light as a couple of credit cards". You get one Gigabyte of storage with the convenience of PCMCIA plug and play configuration. There is a mention that product can be used to record 80 minutes of video in a digital video camera (resolution and frame rate conveniently not mentioned).

Seems like this product will compete with the IBM microdrive.

I think it is relevant to SNDK in that it is another potential appliation for SNDK's technology. I could imagine a several gigabyte type III card in the not to distant future (and CF capacities reaching 1 GB). Also, Eli mentioned that there was demand in the telecommunications sector for this type of product where equipment is exposed to the elements and susceptible to damage and expensive repairs. He didn't mention any specific customer base.
