>>What is your taste?<< Well, I have been into cars well before I was old enough to drive. When I was 7 my big brother pulled up in front of the house in this coral and white 55 chev with the wheel wells cut out to fit the slicks. The street tires were thrown in the back seat. A hole was chopped in the hood, for the scoop. It had a 327 but it was tricked. It rattled and shook, but really screamed. I was hooked. I got my licence in '72. My first cars were: 51 Chev 60 Ford 58 Chevs (1 sport coupe, 1 2 dr post) 55 Bel-Air Wagon 57 Chevs(2) Austin Healeys(3) That is way early on. Later got into: E-type Jag(series II 4.2) Volvo P-1800 Citroen SM Stuff like that. Later was in the car biz full time. Had a detail shop(hence D. Taylor) in a very upstream area in my hometown, Vancouver, B.C. did restoration(real restoration) and had a showroom full of old beauties. 58 Buick Roadmaster Conv. 55 Chrysler New Yorker Wagon. 64 Buick Tempest Conv. with aluminum V-6 53 Buick Roadmaster Conv. 55 T-Bird 66 Mustang (K)Conv. On any given day the place looked like something out of American Grafitti! Restored my personal 58 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe. Spent 4 years. The body was at the paint shop for 3 months.Very few bad spots on the metal. They sanded and primered and sanded and primered and sanded and primered and sanded and primered, until, before the paint was applied, you could run your hand along the side of the car with your eyes closed and it felt as smooth as a river stone. Painted with Sikkens (dammit cant remember the correct name of the color) off white. It was truly beautiful. Sensing a little passion now? Won best Pontiac at an Olds Buick Pontiac Meet. Lost my lease due to demolition. Sold all. Kept the Bonnie till last. A girlfriend convinced me to sell it. Broke down and trucked it to Reno for Hot August Nights. Did not bring it back. :-( Now the car is gone. So is the girlfriend. More recently, got into buying cars that had been won in lotteries, and reselling them. Got a Z-3 that way but couldn't part with it right away. Have a Volvo now. Just crunched a BMW 528. D. Taylor EDIT: I remember the name of the color now. Patina Ivory.
