I agree with everything you say. And for months I have been telling this post that the Koreans WERE spending money and buying equipment. This is not a tale taken from people who work for them but from vendors and tech that sell and maintain equipment. After all it is known the best time to buy equipment is when the market is soft. Just like MU trying to buy all of the DUV steppers it needed.

Samsung has been buying at record paces for months now, and Hyundai, for some reason did chose to buy less reliable DUV equipment, but did buy. And it looks like they are making it work. The yields in Eugene are remarkable for the manpower they have there. Comparable or better than their Fab Seven in Korea.

Not all companies sat idle during this allow time. Many have new ventures and design, which are now ready for production. It will be an interesting summer.
