"or as your own corporation. " I did that. Twice. I was (probably still am) both a sumi-e (oriental brush) and computer graphics artist. So I set up my own company to do that. The problem was, I ended up doing more charitable work that profitable, to the point that was all it was after a while. Admittedly that was my fault since I have always tried to help out organizations or people needing some assistance. I also was (or am) a writer, having written and sold several plays to the Joe Papp theatre in NY and the Los Angeles Actor's Guild (for screening bit parts mostly), one novel, four books of poetry, and about 25 texts for the government (real 300+ page deals). unfortunately running a publishing company isn't terribly lucrative either. I've done consulting work too on corporate systems architectures, aritificial intelligence, and yers ago used to beta test software for Apple. I don't mind working for someone else. I just need to find someone/some company who wants to move ahead and isn't afraid to try things outside the box. A place where they start out by saying, "We've been told this can't be done..." and who can take a chance on either a glorious mistake or a fundamental change for something more than they can imagine. Something creative and fun and difficult and radical and meaningful. Someone who understood Dale Carnegie's epitaph. "Here lies a man who knew how to hire people better than himself." I loved hiring people better than me. Its how we both grew. I was one of GE's eight Factory with a Future Program Managers in the 80's. But there isn't any way to say that on a resume that won't scare off 99% of every VP or CEO I've met. I know a lot of great people. Leaders of industry and commerce. I worked for them. I have great references. I know what my niche is. Its taking struggling coporations and making them world class. I just can't find the people with vision and courage to want to go there with me. I even thought about doing something in this financial arena. But you know what, I don't think I could sell information I would feel better about giving away. This is better. SI, this thread. Alien and Jay and Dave and Sue and Leland and the rest of you crazy yahoos. Thanks. scott
