H, before ML's downgrade, ML was pushing its customers to buy CPQ. For ML to have then engineered things so that they (ML) could buy shares cheaper would have been a very, VERY stupid move, a sure-fire way to lose customers (who pay high commissions) either to other full-service or on-line brokers: get customers to buy shares in the 40s then pull the rug from under them. No, even though many people are down on full-service brokerage houses, I don't think ML engineered this.
