Peter, I can't speak for Earlie, but I would say that it shows how corporate demand for pc boxes crashed and burned during 1998, from 20% year over year in January to 3% by the same time this year. 1998 wasn't so hot, but the first half was much better than the second. And if somebody can get positive revenue growth out of 3% unit sales gains year over year, when pc ASPs are down about 2% a month, sequentially, I'd like to hear them make their case. <g>

Peter:
In the last two weeks of 1998 and the first week of 1999, there was a flurry of "deep discount" selling as all stores tried to dump inventory. Prices were remarkable, and it got some of the job done.

I'd be very surprised if even unit sales were up from that point on, on a year-over-year basis, but it is for certain that revenues were not. (g)

Best, Earlie
