Here comes the S3 garbage...

corporate-ir.net;

I'll bet it's some sort of parallel processing scheme.

Sharky Extreme (http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/metabyte_onsite/) has a big write-up from their visit to Metabyte.

Tons of hype in the article, lots of talk about the "shockwave in Silicon Valley" that the news produced.

Casual references to 3dfx's November 99 retail launch of their new product. Another reference to the TNT2 ultra (166 mhtz) chip that's coming out.

Six or seven pages (with ad banners on each one).

Has Metabyte got the technology working even on the Banshees they developed it on? No. Is TNT working? A few months away. Any deals with OEM's. No. Would it require hardware changes to the cards. Yes (big problem since these cards are all coming out for the next refresh cycle - meaning in the next couple of months). Could anyone use this technology? Yes, not even close to being TNT specific.

Somehow I'm underwhelmed.
