Christian,

First off...I can't even pretend to tell you...."anything" about shorting...

but even as a "newbie"... have to caution you...on hitting the top flight Internet stocks...the AMZN, YHOO, AOL, DELL and ATHM's, etc etc of the world...(better have deep pockets)

that said:

MSDW Jan 13, 1999 position on ATHM (per Meeker) is outperform.

PM me if you want more info.

smile...mary

PS: For disclosure puprposes: FYI: I am long ATHM and very bullish on it...also..have a lot of XCIT which is merging with ATHM.

Christian, I will check around, but I would not be surprised if MSCO is pushing ATHM. After all, the Queen of Internet perma bull, Mary Meeker holds the resident guru emeritus position there. Also, they have quite a few net IPOs (Priceline being one) in the pipeline -- as such they have a compelling interest to keep the bubble inflated.

Don't expect Keith Benjamin, Lauren Levitan, Meeker, DlJ's Jamie and the rest to say anything really negative about the ISDEX components. Now that Cohen has left MLCO for Wit Capital, his successor Henry will no doubt turn Merrill into the bull camp.
