ACTV - a picture
by: ACTVBill 5014 of 5023
I am trying to put a picture together that involves the companies ACTV is associated with and the opportunity that can arise from it. I'm just going to lay down some facts and hope that together we can
figure if something is really going to happen from this picture or already has happened. Does this picture have anything to do with tomorrow (March 1, 1999)?

Liberty Media (lbtya) as of 9/30/98 (listing I have):

owned 10% ACTV Inc.
owned 17% United Video Satellite Group Inc. (UVSGA)

United Video Satellite Group Inc.:

owns Prevue Channel

Prevue Channel & ACTV (together in set-top box) was demonstrated
at the Western Cable Show Dec 4-7 1998

UVSGA recently was ruled by a judge on patent infringement against Gemstar
Judge ruled against UVSGA and in favor of Gemstar on patent infringement.

UVSGA and Gemstar are the only companies that I know of that provide
Electronic Program Guides (EPG).
Gemstar is analog and has patents all around it, especially in using the VBI
By the way, ACTV use to use the VBI also before they changed over to digital.
Again, thanks to Bill Samuels vision.
Gemstar is making a BIG mistake staying with analog and VBI.
UVSGA's Prevue is supposed to be digital

UVSGA is buying TV Guide's brand name from News Corp. (Rupert Murdoch company)
and the deal is to close tomorrow (March 1, 1999)

So Gemstar is actually suing Rupert Murdoch and John Malone (what a power house).

TV Guide released news on Friday February 26, 1999 titled
"TV Guide Aims For Global Internet Advertisers"
When I read the article I see ACTV's HYPERTV all over the place.

Now we also had the Neidiger,Tucker, Bruner,Inc. Price Target updated on ACTV also
on Friday February 26, 1999

Also on Friday February 26, 1999 ACTV released news titled "Top Executives to Speak Monday,
March 1st At Two Internet, Television & Marketing Conferences" (title tells you it's HYPERTV)
Link:
biz.yahoo.com

Bill Samuels in LA talking about "Capturing Sales from the PC-TV Market" to Marketing Executives.

David Reese in New York talking to a Media Research Firm focusing exclusively on how the
Internet and other technologies are changing traditional consumer industries.

Sounds to me like this is ACTV's opportunity to use HYPERTV in USVGA's TV Guide product since
we have our own patents that won't infringe on Gemstar's patents.

This picture looks very coordinated to me, all news releases from different companies
coming out at the same time.

I think ACTV is about to explode with HYPERTV. I did not know that ACTV Inc. had a
subsidiary named HyperTV, I only knew about ACTV entertainment being a subsidiary.

Personally I do NOT think this stock is speculative anymore, it was speculative when I first bought it in May '93 before the engineering was totally finished.

What am I missing from this picture. What are your thoughts.
