Your complaints exist against practically any jury; it is an endemic problem of lay juries in highly technical matters. I believe that a jury has been requested; at least one article has indicated it will be a jury trial.

I realize that several articles have talked about 'a jury', but after watching the news media for the last few years I am very skeptical of many of the pronouncements that they make (interestingly, before the advent of the web I was much more trusting, but now with the web I can often check things quickly and discover the many errors.). Did you actually hear reference to a jury trial when you went? I certainly haven't seen any reference to it in any of the Ericsson or Qualcomm releases.

PS General note - One of my case books actually says that within patent suits juries are rare unless one side feels that they have a particularly weak case. Then they request a jury as is their Constitutional right. It would be interesting to actually see it broadcast that Ericsson requested a jury if indeed it is a jury trial.
