I hope you're not envious of their youth. Who would want to go through that again? I watch them, all bravado, measuring themselves in each other's eyes, wondering how they are doing. The different factions all have uniforms: the druggies, the Mansonites, the preppies, the jocks. CW just got over pinkeye; he came home from school and said it was so weird, that he was walking down the hall and all these druggies were saying "Hey, man," to him and he finally figured out it was his red eyes and his shaved head (leftover from the swim tournament). They thought he was one of them.

Tonight they are going to a recording studio to make a tape for the Battle of the Bands audition. We are usually really strict about school nights so they were pretty surprised when I said absolutely they could go, with no curfew. Recording sessions are one of the neatest memories I have--no way would I get in the way of them having that experience. Bet the school would not approve of my parenting techniques though. (Like I care.)But you are SO right about life being the chance to do fun things. Well---good things, anyway, not just ANY things.

Uh-oh. Morbid weirdness bubbling out from Oregon? Another casualty of the prolonged winter blahs? Should I make you another Long Island Iced Tea, extra strong? Or is it time to take the tea glass away?

Edit: an article in the paper recently, you can still buy absinthe in England, apparently it was never banned there. Let's fly to London and try it, shall we? Neon green, the article said.
