Jimmy

I have seen users set the maximum speed setting in the modem setup menu to 57,600 because they thought that meant their modem speed (as in 56K) effectively turning off compression.

I am one of those users...and immediately made the max speed correction from 57600 to 230400 on a 56k modem. The improvement is immediately noticable,,very snappy now...
Thanks for the useful info..I hope you stick around to provide more...

Clarence

Just got my shiny new PC with 56K V.90 etc last week. First thing I did was crank that modem to the max 115,200, but found myself losing my ISP connection every 20 minutes to an hour. Cut it back to 57,600 and now it's quite stable. Coincidence?? Should I go back to the 115,200?
