I'll third the nomination. I was in the electronics industry during the 70's, and watched vertical integration take place in many companies. For those who took it upon themselves to integrate, it allowed them to develop higher margin products, leap frogging their customers to create new relationships one or two levels above their traditional spots. The effect was to kill competition while they built their own hill. Profits were often obscene. One that comes to mind was Microswitch. It became a division of Honeywell, started making keyswitches for keyboards which they sold to many different manufacturers. Eventually they developed their own, quit selling to other mfgrs, and for a time, led the (keyboard) market. Sounds like these two are on a similar path.
