Scummy Bag - Re: "and in fact, AMD introduced SIMD long before Intel. "

What a CROCK !

The very first MMX was SIMD (for x86 CPUs) !

It was developed by INTEL !

3DNOW just added floating point SIMD to the MMX Integer SIMD instructions.

If there's no copying going on then lawyers are making too much unearned gelt. What about DEC and their caches? Why were NSM and AMD so eager to renew their licenses with Intel?
The demonstration of speed is a proof of a working concept. Remember the laughter in 1997 about Intel's demonstration of a 400-450 MHz chilled Pentium II?
Everyone "steals" from the same pile of unproven ideas. It ought to be very hard for anyone to patent anything in the pile.
I agree that there is little direct copying, but everyone copies concepts blowing around with the tumblehead.
