White is just an aesthetic choice there -- not faster than grey or anything else. However, large background graphics are slushy and slow. I expect A@P's site will be inhabited by a crowd of regulars, who will want to fly around in there. I'd like his site to draw from the same virtues Pawluk's site displays. (In case this isn't obvious, this isn't a specific recommendation for the site's author, I just thought it was exemplary in its style) Glad you liked it, Alan
