I used to thing belief in something is better than wishy-washy, but now I think the wishy-washy people are better neighbors and friends. I have just started to look into Christianity very seriously since October in a way that I have felt has been successful. I've gone to other churches and what I am finding is that as you say, there are these subgroups that are certain about how you are either right or wrong and how you are in trouble if or unless blah blah blah. This has been part of the learning curve for me with all of this. What I am finding is that you tune out the zealots and focus on the people that are similar to your beliefs within the church. I used to get upset by these types; now I see that they are just a small percentage faction and often the most unhappy people in the church.
