Linux is the antithesis of their monopoly. Microsoft wouldn't plant a comparative story about a product that was better than theirs (and obviates their 'tax', no less). That one rattled some windows in Redmond.

No doubt, MS's PR machine is doing its job, but some of the articles on MSNBC could come independently from the other part of alliance - NBC.
