I have not "pretended to be shopping for a wireless handset" for a while, but the last time I did (at a GTE Wireless place in South Florida), the salesperson said "this Nokia handset is cheaper, but some of them end up coming back here within a week, due to software problems. If you get a good one, great. But, you may not get a good one ..."

Jon.

Depends on the salesperson. There are so many who just want the lowest price the salesmen get used to going for it first. A good salesman would have found what you were looking for, perhaps by finding out whether you wanted the cheap service plan, first; if so, sell the cheap handset. If the guy wants 1000 minutes, then you sell the premium handset.
