(Dow Jones) ACTV To Use HyperTV For TV/Internet Svc 03/01/99 Dow Jones News Service (Copyright (c) 1999, Dow Jones & Company, Inc.) NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--ACTV Inc. (IATV) will use its HyperTV software to provide synchronized television and Internet service. In a press release Monday, ACTV said HyperTV permits the simultaneous and synchronized delivery of streamed video and Web Uniform Resource Locators to users. ACTV said HyperTV will enable television programmers and advertisers to push Internet content and chat functions that directly correspond to a video program. For example, HyperTV enables a user watching a rock concert to receive a stream of Web addresses, in synch with the video, that provides related content such as song lyrics, band members bios, interactive trivia questions, magazine articles or e-commerce applications to purchase related merchandise, ACTV said.
