Vitesse Introduces Family of Clock Multipliers and Distribution ICs CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 1999--Leveraging its expertise in telecom and ATE IC product design, Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq:VTSS - news) today introduced a family of clock multiplier and distribution ICs -- the VSC6108, VSC6110, and VSC6112. This family provides precision clocks with 18 differential ECL outputs for high speed clock applications, such as computer clock distribution, RAMBUS, telecom and ATE systems. The VSC6108, VSC6110, and VSC6112 deliver extremely precise clocks. Skew is very low (<50ps), the rise times are extremely fast (150ps 20-80%), and jitter is very small (<4ps rms), meeting SONET/SDH jitter requirements. Input frequencies are selectable from 50MHz to 622MHz and the output frequencies are selectable from 100MHz to 1.25GHz. The device operates from a single 3.3V power supply with a dissipation of only 1.2 Watts typical. ''One of the most difficult design challenges in distributed systems is simultaneously meeting the setup and hold time requirements in multiple parts of a synchronous design. The low jitter and minimal skew of the VSC6108, VSC6110, and VSC6112 will improve timing margin, and the very fast edges will minimize timing uncertainty due to switching level variations,'' stated Allan Armstrong, product marketing manager of Vitesse's ATE Division. ''Furthermore, because the VSC6108, VSC6110, and VSC6112 include an on-chip clock multiplier, system designers can distribute high-speed clocks on the printed circuit board but use lower speed clocks from board to board, decreasing system cost,'' concluded Armstrong. The VSC6108/VSC6110/VSC6112 are packaged in an industry-standard 64-pin 10mm x 10mm plastic PQFP. Samples of these integrated circuits will be available in April, 1999, with volume production scheduled for Q3 '99. In quantities of 1000, each IC is priced at $78. Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation is a world leader in the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of high bandwidth communications and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) integrated circuits (ICs). The company's products address the needs of telecommunications, datacommunications and ATE equipment manufacturers who demand a combination of high speed, high complexity and low power dissipation. Vitesse corporate headquarters is in Camarillo, California, with its second fabrication facility in Colorado Springs producing volume supplies of IC.
