New Information On Compaq Website: Compaq Again Ranked No. 1 in Disk
Storage Systems

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 1999--For the second consecutive year, Compaq Computer
Corporation (NYSE:CPQ - news) was named No. 1 in disk storage systems revenue by International
Data Corporation,(1) with consolidated annual storage systems revenue of more than $5.5 billion in
1998. IDC also ranked Compaq No. 1 last year, with 1997 revenue of more than $4.9 billion. IDC credits
Compaq's success to the integration of Digital Equipment Corporation and believes that Compaq will
easily maintain its No. 1 position in 1999.

Compaq recently announced its Enterprise Network Storage Architecture (ENSA), a key element of the
