Its a state to state issue, now if its illegal in NY, well, Then Mr. teleport has a problem. But, since he is also the PsiCop, I am sure he thinks even he is above the law.......

Check again, it's NOT ILLEGAL in NYS to record a conversation (telephone or otherwise), as long as ONE PARTY knows it's being recorded. That recording party could be me, and I don't have to disclose it to the other party.

Was it taped or not, only I know the truth.
