USB 2.0 and FireWire.

>Now, back to the FUD accusation. It is clear that the squeeze presented by the
Intel PR machine is a stretch; it is mostly contrived. Why even mention FireWire?
Why not just pre-announce USB 2.0 and Future ATA? Because Intel wants to kill
FireWire/1394. If people swallow this squeeze angle, they will not be eager to buy
1394 devices and 1394-capable machines, for Fear of future obsolescence. This is
the F part of FUD. The Uncertainty is that maybe 1394 will go away, and we will be
able to give ALL our R&D money, ALL our chipset money, to Intel in appreciation
for their monopoly on good ideas and licensing rights. Intel is saying, "Doubt the
good future of 1394. Listen to us: we will be able to do better in a couple of years.
Be willing to live without 1394's stellar capabilities now, and perhaps we can come
up with something that will mostly fill the gap in a couple of years."<
