OT -

uh.. NOT SO.. If you use IE within AOL you are using a subset of that browser (basically the basic browsing funcitonality). What you do is after AOL connects start IE on its own. You will not lose any windows this way when AOL disconnects. I'm sure if AOL had used netscape as their browser you would have the same issues within the AOL software.

Hello, XO! Our problem is that AOL will not allow us to download Netscape. My husband phoned AOL technical support. He followed their instructions but to no avail.

We are stuck with MSFT browser. We have used AOL b4. He knows how to download Netscape. We use it at home on another account. Also, he's no dummy.

So either AOL technical support do not know what they are talking about when they told him what to do. OR they want us to use MSFT by default.

Do you not recall that, at one time, MSFT had contract with AOL that required AOL to use MSFT Browsers. This information was brought out in the government's anti-trust trial with MSFT.

I'll ask my husband to contact AOL again but if we are unable to download Netscape, I will cancel my subscription.

But the big problem is that it does not work well with Fidelity on-line trading. And I need a browser that works well all the time with Fidelity. AOL recognized they had a problem because a week or so ago, Fidelity posted notices when I was on-line that said if you use MSFT browser follow new procedures. Well, I don't want to follow new procedures.

I want to use the Netscape Browser because it is what I use on my other account and the important sites that I need are set up nicely on my tool bar.

I have lost cursor with AOL too. Also, when I try and post messages to SI from AOL. I lose messages and I have editing problems.
