victor,

I saw the same interviews and vividly recall EP's comments and reaction as you have described. Since I have been holding my shares since '94 and intend to continue to hold them for the long term (subject to the "actual" fundamental basis of the company) I did not give heavy concern to "1st Qtr. results." Especially, in light of the improvement seen in the 4th Qtr. and the seasonality of the computer business in general. I still believe that the DEC integration is far from complete as far as top & bottom line contributions are concerned.

Having been in similar situations in the past where sales forecasts & performance require quarterly, and yearly for that matter, backloading, I understand the uneasiness--to a degree--that the analysts and market are experiencing. Basically, everyone has to wait and see. But, I believe the hype and fear, evidenced by the initial reactions of many here on the thread, have been W A Y overdone. Based on the core information and comments that provided the fuel to this excitement, I just do not see CPQ to be in an irrecoverable position definitely by the end of the year, and probably by the end of the Qtr. Especially, since I consider the original "expectations" to border on conservative. Unfortunately, time will tell and those seem to be the three words the market hates to hear.

Thanks for your comments.
