Bought some more today at $115. Intel said only a week or so ago, no change in forecasts. Expectations for the quarter have been dampened a-la Dell, Compaq. That's the best time to buy.

It is the boxmakers who are hurting ---price competition among them means --PCs get a little cheaper(even the PIIIs). What do you get from this --- increase in unit shipments!!!

Intel probably made no change in their expectations for this quarter because they know how many Pentium IIIs chips were being shipped to all PC makers. The PC makers "view" is very limited. As i said before, Intel benefits from the Pentium III this quarter more so than the boxmakers (who might see greater benefits next quarter). Maybe the boxmakers won't see any benefits since they are in a price war.

IMHO the following are sell signals:

Sell Intel if they warn of a EPS shortfall.<g>
Sell Intel if Microsoft warns of earnings shortfall <ggg>

That would make more sense not what we are reading lately.
