Linda, let me attempt an answer. VLSI can, and will, signal its response to the offer. Either they will flatly turn it down, saying they wish to remain independent, or they could say that it is grossly inadequate, which would signal that a higher price might be better received. The company's yahoo profile indicates that out of the 45 + million shares in the company, 40 million are in the float, so the insiders own a small percentage of the company.
The big question really is whether phillips will go hostile, and launch a tender offer. Then we get into poison pills, white knights, etc. I am tempted to bail from my 15 3/16 entry and take my point or so and say thank you very much. If there is a tender offer, then i might get back in and let the games begin. larry
