-IOMEGA: Iomega Europe gears up for growth
Presswire - March 01, 1999 15:32
M2 PRESSWIRE-1 March 1999-IOMEGA: Iomega Europe gears up for growth (C)1994-99 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Following recent changes in the US and the announcement of Iomega Corporation's return to profitability in Q4, Iomega's European organisation has implemented a series of company-wide management changes to enable the company to focus on growing its revenue and improving profitability. The major change is that the company will organise itself around its core business functions rather than the previous structure of three decentralised products groups. The core business functions include Retail and Channel Sales, OEM Sales and Marketing, Product Marketing and Corporate Marketing.

"1998 was a watershed year for Iomega. Through a series of internal changes and fresh approaches to our business we produced an excellent set of results in Q4," said Jeff Jeter, managing director for Iomega Europe. "The changes we're announcing today mean that we can face 1999 with great confidence, knowing that we have the right structure in place to suit the needs of our customers and the needs of our business."

The most significant change announced is that of the Jaz and Zip sales teams. Where previously there were two salesforces, one responsible for Jaz sales and the other responsible for Zip sales, there will be a single team. Vic Sanchez, previously the Senior Director for Sales and Marketing, will assume the role of Senior Director of European Sales with responsibility for managing the integrated salesforce.

"This change is a major step forward for how we work with the channel," said Vic Sanchez. It means we can give our channel partners a single point of contact for all our products and help them to better meet the demands of their customers."

The other significant change is in Marketing. Previously each of the business groups had their own marketing function. This will change under the new structure with the formation of a Product Marketing team and a Corporate Marketing team. The Product Marketing team will be responsible for all aspects of managing Jaz, Zip, Buz and the other Iomega products.

Ulrike Teigtmeier and Roy Bedlow will share responsibility for Product Marketing. Teigtmeier, previously responsible for the Personal Storage Division in Europe, will assume responsibility for marketing the Zip and Jaz products while Bedlow, previously responsible for the Mobile Storage Division, will take charge of marketing for clik! and all future new product platforms.

Corporate Marketing will be responsible for creating demand across the entire Iomega product range and reinforcing the Iomega brand through the use of advertising, interactive marketing and PR. This group will also be responsible for channel marketing, ensuring that all of Iomega's marketing functions are fully integrated.

Martin Brophy has been appointed to the position of Director of European Marketing and will take charge of Corporate Marketing. Brophy was previously in charge of the Professional Products Division.

The OEM group will continue with its existing structure under the guidance of Leslie Finn.

Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM) manufactures and markets the award-winning Zip, Jaz, Clik! and Ditto drives and disks that help people to organise, manage, create, exchange and share their important information. Mel, when PC sales slow down, Iomega's sales might suffer. too.
That's why this MUEI warning is bad news. It comes on top of
warnings from CPQ and others...
