el: Dell are cutting prices because they stuffed the channel - they have to move the inventory. It is costing them about $3 billion just having the stuff sitting there in the Fed Express vans. You can quote me when you tell the DELL thread! If DELL can't find a way to assemble PC's actually on people's desk, they are going to go out of business. In today's market, the decision to buy and the delivery of the product have to be instantaneous and preferably paid for in advance.

I Chicago, DELL is trying out an experiment to deliver your DELL in 30 minutes from the time you order - or you get it free. It's causing quite a controversey because the DELL delivery boys are takng short cuts through people's yards, and knockign down old ladies crossing the street, because if they are late and have to give it away free it comes out of their wages.

The market for DELL products has not even been scratched. I understand that the govt is going to insist that pregnant women sign up with DELL before the 6th week of pregnancy and again at the commencement of labour pains. The idea is to have the computer waiting and booted up as the kid emerges.

CPQ is trying to copy the idea and is offering each new kid a free e-mail address based on the date time year and second of birth.
