A very warm welcome to you too. On a different note, I unfortunately was out of the country in Sept 98 when 3Com had their annual share holder meeting. Rest assured I will not miss it this time and its held only 3 miles from my workplace. Attending the Ascend shareholder meeting was very fruitful but cant say the same here. However I intend to make it painful for 3Com management by asking some direct questions and expecting direct replies. Especially regarding these secretive shortfall updates to analysts. Expect some more modem and NIC press releases as thats all this loser company makes. Joe ? Where are you ? -hitesh

Hi, Mike. Just to add to your happiness, I continue to hear that there is even more promotional activity than usual near the end of a quarter. It's beginning to look as though the quarter will be closer to 30 cents than 35 cents, unless they stuff the channel--which will cause problems for the fiscal fourth quarter if they do it. The stock seems to be discounting earnings at the low end of the range and paying no attention to the longer term new product outlook. Still I'd stay braced for more lousy performance until the mid-March earnings release.
