Speculation and Rumor: IBM is rumored to be showing demos of 0.15 micron copper chips suitable for 500-1000 MHz L2 cache for the G4 processor to be used in the next generation powerpc due later this year. Could they be shopping this technology to the RDRAM folks? Using it themselves? Conventional RDRAM may be too power hungry for laptops. Has anyone calculated the power cost of 64-128 MB of RDRAM?
