In the South it used to be perfectly acceptable to refer to a "lift" provided by one's cousin with the following: "My cousin carried me here."

My God, let's not stoop that low. In the South it used to be perfectly acceptable to enslave people and marry one's sister, too.

Yes, it is true, I live in The South (Virginia), and I am from The South (Louisiana), and in The South, it is still perfectly acceptable to refer to a "lift" provided by one's cousin with the following: "My cousin carried me here."
