doesn't the intc trial have an influence in here somewhere??.....can't imagine the government handling both at the same time.....I think it is bad PR for the gov.

Bad PR for the government is why I think Microsoft is in a good bargaining position---who is the government---Clinton. (I was told FTC and DOJ fall under the Whitehouse).
This would be one way to screw up your popularity. That is why the DOJ's remedy leak in the WSJ today was watered down from the break up into 2 or 3 "baby Bills". Talk about predictable.

Frankly, I think MSFT has them by the "b#@$s".(pardon the expression) It may appear that the DOJ and the states have the upper hand but they are in big trouble from the expected bad PR as the intel trial gets more attention.

A downturn in the tech market puts added pressure on the FTC and DOJ and Clinton----just watch. Everybody has an interest in the market.
I believe the DOJ wants to settle more than Microsoft.
