(AMKR) plans to double production capacity of its uBGA chip-scale packages by mid-1999. In a press release Monday, Amkor said it will increase production capacity to six million units a month. The chip packages are designed for integrated circuit suppliers and original equipment manufacturers for use in cell phones, digital assistants and laptop computers. Amkor provides semiconductor and packaging and test services.
