My "new" opinion is that Intel should offer TWO versions of Pentium III - the STANDARD Pentium III called a Pentium IIIS - with the security features as is, and a second one, Pentium IIIu - UNSECURE - with all the extra 64 ID bits set to all ZEROS or ALL ONEs - effectively neutralizing the ID feature.

This then gives people a choice - individual users can choose which ever they want and CORPORATIONS can choose the SECURE ones with the ID feature enabled for their own business uses.

This "choice" should take the emotional wind-bags out of the headlines.

Intel can make the S/U decision at final test time, since no mask changes are required.
