<Sorry, but it's true, one program is a specialty program, 7000 bucks, then others like Photo Shop 1000 bucks, plug ins for PhotoShop 1000, Corel Draw, 700 bucks, HUNDREDS of other programs, some are not used anymore, not to mention upgrades, etc. ... doesn't take long to get into the tens of thousands of dollars ... Oh, we're talking about Canadian dollars.

ROFLMAO - I personally billed over 1/4 million+ bucks (American Dollars) as a contractor, over a <3 year period for developing customized software applications for one company. I billed directly. I was a one "man" operation. Granted, they weren't a huge company. Only billed about $25MM/annually. I warned them about Y2K 3 years ago and they ignored me. Thought a generic program would be better than a customized application.

So, they switched to the generic package - THANK G*D (I couldn't afford the litigation, nor would I have wanted nor been able to go thru years of programming documentation to make this Y2K compliant). They did me a BIG, BIG favor. Besides saving my *ss, this was also the cataylist to get me involved with Y2K research.

To make a long story short, they had to manually calculate financials for past two years and lost all reporting functions. (Home office never knew this. Company is listed on NYSE. Home office pulled their report, saw end result, in anticipated format and was happy. Never knew about manual work-arounds.) They manually re-entered figures on the accounting end of this supposedly integrated software package.

PLUS ... they are now a party to a class action suit with their new, generic software company ... which is not Y2K compliant.

Keep on spouting off about VCR's, microwaves, coffee machines and personal PC's if it makes you happy. Unfortunately, we can't stop you. The adults on this thread have greater concerns ...

Guess I have better (and cheaper) sources. ggg. Next question: do you work for Silicon Investor or have any ties to any organization that works for SI?
