*Ericy with no cdmaOne* The absence of a CDMA may create problems for Ericsson in the future; "CDMA telephones can take half the volumes on the US market. Clearly it's a worry if we are not found on the shelves then," Siberg told the newspaper.

I thought they were going to deny the request if customers wanted CDMA. Anyway, they invented it so let's take it to court and see if Q! can't nibble just a little bit of Ericy's great invention away from them using a patriotic Texan Jury.

These are very puzzling comments from Ericy in regard to a technology which they say can't work and even if it can in some weak way, it is so late to market it is doomed. Etc etc...

VW40, for those late to the origins, derived from John Scurci suggesting Ericy's CDMA invention be called DW40 as a kind of snake oil instead of 3G-WCDMA-VW-SETI which is the proper name for it. DW40, for those not familiar with the oil industry is derived from 'dewatering fluid 40' and is the brand name of a famous lubricating mineral oil. VW stands for vapourwear, which is similar to vapor ware in the software industry which is what companies announce when they really don't have any software but they might develop it if they can, but meanwhile the announcement might disrupt their competitors. Since DW40 has such a good brand name, it seemed better to use VW40, which is also reminiscent of Volkswagenwerk cars produced by Hitler's criminally-based totalitarian state of Deutschland. The Nazis used propaganda, repeated lies, deception, distortion, prevarication and 'for the greater good of mankind' communications to get their way and gain ascendancy over opponents. Bill Frezza [an Italian American who has not gone back where he came from - most people have trouble doing that because being born is a one way passage and all trajectories through life are one way trips - one only has the impression of going back where one came from] referred to IS-95, the standard on which cdmaOne was based, as a fraud, Irwin Jacobs as a conman, fraud or words to that effect, saying that the CDMA shambles would end in litigation against Qualcomm [or words to that effect] and calling the CDMA associated people and companies "The CDMA Mafia". Given the criminal, vicious nature of the Mafia, [which we should not refer to as an Italian organisation as they are American based, whereas Sicilian criminals are not really Mafia - though maybe they are - the fine distinctions of criminal heirarchies escape me], it seemed reasonable to refer to the anti-CDMA forces as the GSM Nazis because of the propaganda connection and the z rhymed with Frezza and the Italian connection nicely rounded it out. Anyway, Hitler and the real Nazis produced the VW [Volkswagen - which of course has transmogrified into an admirable car company with huge sales though Europe still uses Statist anti-competitive restrictive trade practises to keep Japanese cars out of Europe as best they can, not to mention all sorts of other goods and services. As recently as this year, 1999, nearly the end of the 20th century, it is still necessary for Charlene Barshefsky to traipse over there from the USA to persuade them to cease and desist with the Hitlerian state control and usurpation of individual rights so that Europeans may freely decide which products they will buy. So since the GSM Nazis produce Vapor Ware, it seemed good to call it VW in memory of similar values.

There was also a children's story about a King not wearing any clothes, having been conned by some visiting tailors who were conmen rather than tailors, who tricked the King into believing he was wearing a cloak of beautiful raiment, made of gold and silver thread and beautiful red velvet, when he was actually wearing nothing, but they persuaded him that only intelligent people could see the beautiful cloak - other stupid people would see nothing. Of course the King did not want to appear stupid so he joined in with them enthusing about the cloak. As did the King's subjects. Apart from one little boy who, being an innocent child blurted out "The King Isn't Wearing Any Clothes!" which broke the spell and all fell about laughing to the King's dismay - the Tailors having made off with their fee.

Hence "VapourWear" rather than "VaporWare" because King Ericy, the leader and King of the cellphone world, wasn't wearing any clothes with their false claims of having invented CDMA in cellular.

So, VW40! Simple eh?

A king not wearing any clothes, selling snake oil, using lies, propaganda and conspiracy [just like the Nazis] to steal Qualcomm's
property.

That's the short version!

Oh yes, the SETI part derives from the 'Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence' which is a program looking for signals from space indicating brainy living things somewhere else. There is a conspiracy in Europe, called ETSI, whose brief is to set standards in Europe and conspire with Ericy and the other European interests to exclude Qualcomm from Europe while gaining Qualcomm's technology for no fee, or maybe enough to cover the engineering costs of inventing it. ETSI are obviously looking for intelligence outside Europe since the Europeans need Qualcomm's intelligence.
