RESEARCH ALERT - ILJ starts Cisco as long-term buy
NEW YORK, March 2 (Reuters) - Interstate Johnson Lane said
Tuesday it started coverage of Cisco Systems <CSCO.O> with a
long-term buy rating for capital gains/higher-risk accounts.
-- Sets 12-month price target of $121 per share.
-- Forecasts 1999 revenue for the year ending in July 1999
of $11.6 billion, generating earnings per share of $1.47 versus
$1.17.
-- Says long-term buy rating based on the fact that Cisco
is dominant equipment provider to the Internet.
-- Says Cisco is No. 1 and 2 in six key markets in the $200
billion telecom equipment market, and has aligned itself with
industry leaders and is one of the most sought-after partners
in networking.
-- Says Cisco currently trades at a premium to its peer
group, with a 1999 price/earnings ratio of 68.1 versus group's
average of 38.3. But says stock justifies premium, and notes
Cisco has not missed a consensus earnings estimate since going
public in 1990.
-- Stock unchanged on the day at 99-7/16.
