Censuring good science to benefit bad (cross-post from Yahoo)

by: DanSpillane 7049 of 7049
I commented on this issue earlier...

This is interesting to some folks, because it is an example of a western press body which is trying to censure the scientific truth. The ASA is a bureaucracy of the tabloids, it has no real credibility.

This censure move has nothing to do with scientific reality, and in fact may be a direct reaction to the Royal Society's message of last week, which basically pointed out the trash tabloids as a major cause of the spread of "bad science" and misleading information.

The Greenpeace et al. groups went to a body which (ahem) "regulates" the tabloids in the UK, and they decided to further assert the power of the tabloids to print the trash "bad science" that has proven so lucrative. Keep in mind, the tabloids want to preserve the industry they have been making in mis-information because it sells...

The other interesting claim made in the UK papers was that the very act of filing of these claims (by Greenpeace et al.)to the ASA somehow upheld the validity of them. Science aside, mind you.
