"Render unto Caesar...."

Seriously, I see no conflict between living a devoutly religious life and using the intelligence God has given us to make some money. My Uncle Raymond is a prime example of a person who lives in just this way and honestly, he is probably as close to a living saint as I am likely to meet in my lifetime. He is also an extremely shrewd investor.

A fair number of religious orders invest in order to fund charitable works. The Vatican is a pretty substantial investor as well, as are the various dioceses of the Catholic Church. It helps to pay the bills and to fund many charitable programs.
