Sean, you are probably right about the 4 to 1 being more a theoretical limit with the v.42bis (I previously typoed v.44bis) standard. I was basing my suggestion on information in the US Robotics Courier manual which said to use that 4 to 1 ratio and a chart there that does show database files being compressed 3 to 1. Text was only slightly more than 2 to 1, though, so my original information claiming 4 to 1 on text was not correct. In any case, let's agree that users should use 115,200 (which every modern PC should handle fine) with a 56K bps modem. The difference is definitely noticeable.

Thanks for the info!

Sean where do I find that java picture viewer that you used to post your Jackson Pictures? I've got a ton of pics to put on a company intranet and seems like it would be nice to use. Also I notice that in view mode you cannot scroll the window to see all the file names, any way to do this?
I assume those were all digital camera pics? I am wondering with what camera and at what size/resolution. They all look really good.

Thanks
Dan
