I was impressed by Michael Gat's analysis some months ago.. He recommended that HP spin off its printer division in order to gain sales from other manufacturers. In addition, other splits make sense, and the PC division, which continues to gain market share, should remain central. But it is difficult to see the relationship between the medical instruments division and anything else. In any event, the stockholders should benefit. fred
