I'm not trying to pass any judgement on the value of Quantum's shares. I have come close to buying them on several occasions here in the low 20s. I may one day do so.

What I am saying is that I don't think anything is gained by obsequious posturing to the faddish likes and dislikes of the markets. Years ago, as I mentioned in an earlier post, it was the market's infatuation with debt that many foolish companies indulged in to get themselves in the good graces of the market. Today there is a disdain for disk-drive stocks, so DD makers are falling all over themselves to paint their company as something other than a drive maker. I say the exercise is a waste of energy. Why? Because the whims of the markets are unpredictable. It may be that a few years from now that the market will be in a full-blown love affair with drive stocks. Why not stick to your business rather than wasting resources to try and please a bunch of short-term oriented speculators in your companies stock? Just my opinion.
