Please explain a little more about buying cheap puts: for example, if Dell was 100 around earnings, what put would you buy and if it were for the same month what would you expect to pay for it?

Actually, there's no rush; vols are still around the post-earnings low. Buy 'em as close to earnings as you can to save time premium.. unless, like me, you think the stock is going down, volatility or no.
