This is very dangerous, since it allows a hacker to program a stolen CPU ID into his own CPU, then assume the identity of the victim.

That's a great idea IMHO.

It could be easily done within the BIOS set up as there is plenty of memory space available on the BIOS chip.

Again it can be hacked but it would be as secure as the current id from intel. Hell the customer could update it every few months if he/she was really paranoic.

This would be fine for e-commerce but not so good for locking software and piracy.
